The book has contributions by Audrey Kennard and Michael Harridine,two Invicta directors. and by a great many other people including,aircrew, cabin crew,engineers,operations staff and members of other departments. There are excerpts from aircrew logs and the ops log with reminiscences and anecdotes, many of which would not have been shared 30-40 years ago!
Starting with two chapters setting the general aviation scene of the era, the story charts the origin of Invicta in 1964 and four subsequent chapters cover the inclusive tour years from Manston flying Vikings, Viscounts and DC4s. The ill-starred merger with British Midland and the formation of Invicta Air Cargo follow with the re-entry into the passenger market by turboprop Vanguards and a Boeing 720B.covered next, the re-possession of the fleet and the subsequent purchase by European Ferries precede the introduction of Invicta International’s first Britannia. A final chapter features the Vanguard crash at Basle, and there are appendices listing the details of the 26 aircraft flown by the Company.
The book has 21 chapters,267 pages and includes 122 colour and 83 black and white photographs and 6 line drawings.
